Finally, a set of features designed around the needs of teachers. In January 2016, Apple announced a beta version of iOS 9.3 with a suite of features designed to make an iPad easier to share and manage in a school setting. Here's a summary, from http://www.apple.com/education/preview/. Note that we have yet to test any of these features. A new kind of ID for education, Managed Apple IDs are created and assigned by the school. Students use their own PIN on the Lock screen to log into one iPad to get their own custom desktop and app layout. Photo ID lets students find their iPad. Each student’s picture appears on the iPad they’ve been using. All they have to do to find their device is spot their photo. Shared iPad for students. Students can log in to different iPads in any classroom and make it their own. New Classroom app. Teachers can guide students through a lesson, see their progress, and keep them on track. Apple School Manager gives Admins one portal where they can do everything from create Apple IDs to purchase apps to prepare devices for MDM. The release date has not yet been determined. Stay tuned.
