First rate pedagogy from five of the past "Endless" apps are mashed together in one leveled theme park, creating an excellent way for a child to informally play their way toward having their own arsenal of early academic skills. These include phonics, word recognition, early reading, Spanish and math. The single app contains 200 lessons from five previously published apps. Most incorporate some form of animated vignette to put the skills into a social context. After you spell the word "friends" you see two friends sharing together for example. Common themes deal with feelings, hobbies, direction & orientation and time & duration. As you play, your progress is automatically bookmarked -- there is no sign in and no accounts. So this is for one player only. This app does more than just introduce a concept. It puts it into an active, playful context where failure is not possible (missing are high scores or timers). This is a big download (437 MB) even for the trial. This is the first Endless app to be offered as a subscription service, with all current and future lessons available to subscribers after a free trial period. You can download the app for free and play the first few levels as a preview. But to get all the content you need to buy a monthly or annual subscription that auto-renews. Note that it is possible to purchase each of the individual apps on a stand along basis, with no recurring fees.
