Billy's Booger: A Memoir
© 2015 Moonbot Studios
This clever 32 screen animated and narrated memoir tells the story of how a young boy named William Joyce wrote his very first book when he was in fourth grade. Note that there is also a printed book with the same title, for those who prefer paper. The experience is not designed to be interactive (there's only a "read to me" mode). But the subtle animations and funny narration can hold your interest. In the story, Billy alternates between his young and adult voice, as he illustrates how his love for doodling led him to a book-making contest. His book turned out to be about the world’s smartest booger, who stays tucked away until needed. Billy’s sure his story is a winner. But being a winner doesn’t mean you always win. Sometimes it means being in trouble with the principal. Each screen contains excellent illustrations by William Joyce, and animation by Moonbot Studios You can toggle the music and narration on/off and a table of contents lets you jump to any page. Use this story to demonstrate innovation in storytelling, as well as different ways an author can put him/herself into the narrative.
