Teaches: A windows tablet and laptop for children

CTR Review

Here's a first -- an 8.9 inch 2-in-1 Microsoft Windows based tablet for kids, with a nicely integrated keyboard and touch pad. The two parts snap together quickly and easily so you can hand your child a working mini-laptop or tablet with pre-loaded content and content management features. The only drawback -- the screen is small for use with the laptop version of Microsoft Windows. This also means that some of the icons, designed for 12 inch laptops, can be hard use. We started Microsoft Word (which comes included) and the font is too small. The good news is that this device gives your child all the power of Microsoft Windows, including the built in Microsoft Family Safety features and the ability to make different profiles for each child. So you can monitor usage, set time restraints and limit Web access. The tablet comes with two cameras, a clear screen, fairly good speakers (not the best) and 32 GB of onboard RAM. Windows 8.1 is pre-installed, powered by an Intel quad-core processor. You get a one-year subscription to Microsoft Office 365. Games include the Kurio Motion games, that use the camera to sense motions. 1 GB of RAM plus 32 GB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 64 GB with the microSD card (not included). Other ports include a micro HDMI, micro USB, a 3.5mm headphone connector and two cameras: a 0.3MP front-facing and 2.0MP rear-facing. You can purchase from www.Toysrus.com/kurio.
