This is a snap together metal and plastic robot building kit, that comes in different configurations and prices. The parts include four-sided aluminum beams, plastic joints and screw-together rivets that let you make stronger, more durable creations, than say, LEGOs. The Starter Set ($330) lets you build one of three "hero model" robots. The kit includes aluminum and plastic pieces including structural elements, connectors, hubs, brackets, wheels, and gears; game pad-style, four-channel wireless controller for easy operation of the motors and servos; rechargeable battery pack and charger; two standard servos and two continuous rotation servos; on/off switch; 4-in-1 tool and hex nut driver; storage bin; balls and cups for robot course; and a detailed and graphical builder’s guide (92 pages). The game pad controller requires 4 AA batteries, sold separately (the rechargeable five-cell battery pack powers the robot). According to Pitsco, this kit is compatible with various programming platforms such as myRIO, LEGO Education's NXT and EV3, Arduino and Rasberry Pi.
