LeapFrog Epic

Folks, this is history... the first Android-based LeapFrog tablet that makes it possible to run third party Android apps.At first glance, the LeapFrog Epic looks a lot like the dozens of other Android kid's tablets on the market, especially if you peel off the rubbery bumper. The price is about the same, too. For about $140 you get an Android 4.4 quad-core 1.3 GHz processor tablet with a clear 7 inch multi-touch screen, 16 GB memory plus a micro-SD card slot for additional expansion, Wi-Fi (for browsing pre-selected videos or for buying more LeapFrog apps), 2 MP cameras (front and back), a tethered capacitive stylus and about 20 pre-installed apps. The rechargeable lithium ion battery gives 6 hours of play time. Note that LeapFrog cartridges WON'T work with the Epic. Includes "shatter proof" glass (all tablets have screens that don't shatter), optional bumpers, and a tethered stylus. Despite being late to the party, LeapFrog brings some welcome new features including five child profiles, and ease of use in the interface. If you take off the bumper, the Epic it looks like a "real" tablet, so it can grow with your child.
