Labo Shape
© 2015 Labo Lado Inc.
Here are another six shape-related tracing and drawing activities from the small but prolific Chinese studio, Labo Lado, featuring a clean, slightly confusing interface and lots to do. Children start by tracing a shape template, which becomes a familiar object such as a flower, fish, bug or car. They can then color or play with it. There is no language or reading in the Interface, and the looping music can make you crazy, but it can be turned off from the main menu. Note that the first menu is so easy to use that it's confusing. Each square of design is actually an activity -- a point that could be more obvious. This is a minor problem -- children will soon figure it out. The app features six tracing and building activities which are excellent for fine motor practice. The shapes you trace become musical fish, flowers or birds, all reactive to your touch. In one puzzle game, you must repair a road with shape blocks. This is a solid starter app.
