Demonstrated during the Dust or Magic Masterclass in Bologna, this Dutch app presents an innovative way to read a story, because of the way it links the text with the story events. Called a "swipestory" it requires swiping from left to right in order to make a new line of text appear. This motion also drives the sounds and illustrations, pulling children into the story events, one word at a time. Limitations include a very limited story (this is a free trial) and, according to Bill Teale, the text could be presented with better contrast against the illustrations. In addition, there is no narration feature, although you can toggle between three languages. In this story, a hungry stray dog wants some sausage. Note that five more SwipeStories will follow.
