Four fun logic games are expertly woven with video and text, to create an excellent second Chuggington app. The story comes straight out of the animated train series for preschoolers (like Thomas the Tank). In this case, Wilson, Brewster and Koko, three trains, are in charge of building some tracks, bridges and tunnels, in the town of Chuggington. Children can choose between Read to me, Read it Myself or Autoplay modes, and toggle on/off the music or the highlighted text. The games are multi-level, and tie in well with the story. While the play patterns are not new, the games provide solid spatial reasoning opportunities, and the leveling effectively offers a challenge to both younger children (four year olds) and older children (as old as six or seven). Children can play games interwoven throughout the story; children can lay tracks, dig a tunnel deep into a mountain, chase a runaway tunnel ring and play a tunnel race game. The games have four levels of difficulty with rewards of blue, green, red and gold stars for the completion of each. The star feature is a bit confusing, but the table of contents is among the best we've seen, with integrated icons for performance and completion information. Content includes seventeen pages of story, animation and illustrations, seven video clips from the TV show and word highlighting.
