Beyond Cats! Kindergarten Math Practice
© 2014 MaypopDesigns
Teachers take note -- here's an affordable app that is good for lots of fast, multiple-choice-style practice related to visual counting and classification. This app features sets of hand drawn shapes, good record keeping, and a feedback system that asks you to fix your mistakes (going beyond the typical "right and wrong.") Note however that the format never strays from "touch the right answer" interaction style. The design uses such things as slide-over opaque clues and a grid-based multiple-choice answer entry system, which makes it easy to check your answers. We have no idea how the cats come into the mix. But we do know that this format is responsive, and can work once children figure out the predictable design. Children are rewarded by pictures that are gradually revealed. Features include up to 50 customizable player accounts, two levels to begin and progressively harder problems, the ability to set practice topics, and references to the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics. Note that grades 1 and 2 and also available. See also Attributes by Carstens Studios.
