Featuring touch-and-hear illustrations that are nicely linked to the narrated text, this 16 screen Mercer Mayer story is about Little Critter's first day of school, and the steps he goes through to get ready. The app is based on a lift-the-flap print book, so it includes pictures that change view when tapped. The app also includes an integrated mini-game where children can tap on hidden spiders and mice throughout the story to see a tally of how many they found at the end of the book. As with other Oceanhouse Media apps, it is possible to record your own narration. It's worth noting that the way schools and teachers are portrayed in this app follow traditional school stereotypes. It's very unlikely your child's school will resemble this one room schoolhouse, with a teacher named "Miss Kitty."
