InnoTab MAX

This is the most powerful of the three 2014 (4th generation) InnoTab tablets this year from VTech. The other two are the InnoTab 3S Plus and the InnoTab 3 Plus, which haven't changed as much other than some additional software. InnoTab MAX comes with Wi-Fi, 8 MB of RAM, micro SD card, multi-core CPU, 16 onboard apps, a 180 degree rotating camera, rechargeable batteries, 7” touch display, and the ability to run pre-selected Android apps, but only from the VTech app store. The collection includes two Toca Boca apps -- Toca Pet Doctor and Toca Labs. One app is "free" -- used as a free download from the exclusive VTech app store. The other will cost $2.99. This Android compatibility is big news for children's tablets. This is the second time a kid's tablet maker (the other being Leapfrog) has dared enter into a mainstream app market, in this case providing access to "carefully selected educational Android apps." Pricing details and specific app lists were not provided. But according to VTech PR, this means "more than 200 hand-picked, educator-endorsed Android learning games" and 650 VTech titles. In addition, the tablet will be able to run older VTech cartridges. "So you get the best of both worlds." Dr. Eric Klopfer is listed as a "VTech Expert Panel member and Platform Learning Expert."InnoTab MAX (www.vtechkids.com/ITMax) launched in October, 2014. InnoTab 3S Plus (www.vtechkids.com/IT3SPlus) and InnoTab 3 Plus (www.vtechkids.com/IT3Plus) were available in August of the same year. Additional details will be posted at www.vtechkidscom/brands/brand_page/innotab_family.
