Kapu Blocks
© 2013 Kapu Toys
Good for two children and rich with turn-taking opportunities, this simple building activity lets children control a crane that can be used to stack blocks. First, you choose a building block you want to add to the tower and hoist it on the right place using the hook of the crane. A suggested structure is shown as a ghost image, but you don't have to follow the plan. If you want to make something silly, you can stack a hamburger bun on top of a castle. If you don't line the block up, it falls in the ocean with a splash; some some fine motor precision is required. An "open/close" switch for the claw must also be operated, which is an ideal job for a second child or an adult. Towers are limited to a height of five, and there are different random animations for completed projects. After you finish there's a wrecking ball, so you can start over. There's not much content for the price, but this app provides a unique social opportunity. There are no high-scores, time limits or difficulty levels; also no advertising or in-app sales.
