The Waterford Early Reading Program (WERP) is a comprehensive technology driven literacy, math and science program for grades K-2. Children are first assessed, and then begin individualized mastery learning programs that are managed by a cloud-based assessment system. Waterford also produces Waterford Math and Science, Pre-K, Rusty and Rosy, and Classroom Advantage. Production value is high; with good quality narration and illustration. Currently (2014) there is no tablet version. The program is based on PC-delivered mouse driven content; children wear large headphones to block distractions. Content includes 4,000 learning activities. WERP’s competitors include iRead, Imagine Learning, Istation, Lexia, Earobics v4, Reading Eggs, Fast ForWord, Reading, Smarty Ants, and Mimio Sprout. Costs are about $75 per student for Waterford Early Reading and Classroom Advantage; or $11,995 (160 students or more per school).
