Compass Learning (formerly Jostens Learning) has a long history of CAI (Computer Aided Instruction). In addition to reading instruction, it also provides math, science and social studies instruction. The program has transitioned from mainframe, to CD-ROM, to the cloud over the years. The Reading/Language Arts portion uses assessment and performance outcome measures to create an individualized program. Teachers can use Learning Odyssey with individuals, small groups and whole classes. Compass Learning’s primary competitors are Pearson SuccessMaker and Edmentum Study Island. They are vague on price, other than "We offer both annual subscriptions and ownership models with unlimited user licensing." They are also vague on hardware details; there is no evidence of tablet integration. The activities look like they were designed in Flash. Proceed with caution.
