This creativity app proves how a constraint (or limitation) can stimulate creativity. How? It turns your iPad screen into a peg board that can be filled with an endless number of different shaped and colored pegs, or pins. To fill in one of the holes, you just tap. This places a pin, which can be different sizes and shapes. One tap equals one pin, so making a picture requires a lot of activity. The 22 by 33 grid offers enough room on a standard-sized iPad screen. The main menu offers four types of boards, three with symmetry lines that mirror what you do on one part of the board on the others. You quickly find yourself becoming more aware of patterns, shapes and negative spaces. The clean design requires no reading or language skills, and there are no sound options. Work can be saved in your photo gallery or shared on social media, although there is an age-gate to keep children away from twitter or facebook. If you're looking for a unique creativity experience that fosters spatial thinking, this is an excellent choice.
