If you could pour an overly helpful Kindergarten teacher into an iPad, you'd get an app like this one, which offers six sets of activities, all dealing with basic geometric shapes (squares, pentagons, circles, triangles and ovals). Those in search of a structured tutorial on shapes for younger children will appreciate the water-tight pedagogy. This app lets children "interact and play with basic shapes such as triangle, rectangle, square, pentagon, hexagon, and circle." Activities include: Learn Shapes - draw different shapes by touching each critter; Sort out Shapes - look at each shape and group all the matching pairs; Match the Pairs - match shapes to the real world objects like sandwiches and clocks; Remember Shapes - look at each shape and remember how they look before they hide inside the box; Make Different Shapes - put all the puzzle pieces together to make different animals like the elephant, rhino, and alligator; and Find Shapes - find all the hidden shape in the fable. Note: the narration is a bit sugary.
