At NAEYC last month, Mark Bailey demonstrated the ProScope Micro Mobile Digital Microscope Kit ($150, Bodelin) that comes with accessories that can turn a fourth generation iPod Touch or an iPhone 4 or newer into a handheld microscope. Included with this kit is the lens assembly, which features a 20-80x zoom range, an adjustable lens collar, twelve built-in LEDs, and rechargeable power supply that provides up to five hours of continuous operation at maximum illumination. A device sleeve lets you adjust it for the iPod Touch. Using the device's camera, the ProScope Micro Mobile Kit allows you to easily snap still photos and video of the magnified image using your iPod.
