Based on the Columbia Pictures' and Sony Pictures Animation's film, in The Smurfs 2, the evil wizard Gargamel has created the Naughties, and together they travel to Smurf Village, kidnap Smurfette, and imprison her in Paris. You must help Papa Smurf and friends save the day and bring Smurfette home safe. The console versions of the game let you play as one of the nine Smurfs featured in the movie including Jokey Smurf, Hefty or Brainy Smurf. You will be transported to one of the main locations in the film such as Paris or the Enchanted Forest, and then continue your journey through the discovery of environments exclusive to the video game, such as the Spooky Woods, Arctic Tundra and the Lava Jungle. You will meet and collect another 20 different Smurfs friends and use them to populate the Smurfs Village and also to defeat foes as you face 12 different types of enemies and six bosses during the campaign including Azrael and Gargamel. The game is playable cooperatively with up to four players. Exclusive to the Wii U, a fifth player is able to join in on the action by controlling Clockwork Smurf on the Wii U GamePad to help friends and drop special items. The version created exclusively for the Nintendo DS consists of an interactive storybook and collection of minigames. Prices are $40 for the console versions and $30 for the Nintendo DS.
