Can a computer simulation help you learn hockey? This $40/month subscription-based set of hockey tutorials attempts to try. The lessons are combined with a game-like sim for Internet connected PC or Macintosh computers. It is designed to systematically teach the fundamentals -- things like when to pass, positioning on the ice and so on. Of course these types of lessens are useless unless they are used in conjunction with rink time. The game was designed by SaaS (Software as a Service) for the USA Hockey organization. There's no fancy graphics, licenses or cut scenes, but there is footage from real hockey games. The suggested dose is 10-15 thirty-minute training sessions scattered into 2 sessions a week, for about 5-8 weeks. Visit www.usahockeyintelligym.com.
