Is any ebook app worth $7 (nearly the cost of a hardcover edition?) Yes, in this case. FrogDogMedia's adaptation of the DreamWorks animated movie brings together two 20 screen ebooks with embedded movie scenes and the ability to record your own narration. Each story has read to me or read it myself modes and movie quality narration, a collection of jokes, plus a set of activities that nicely extend the story while giving children an active play option. The creativity mode includes finger coloring (with both stay inside or cross over the lines), three mazes, two spot the differences puzzles, and a very fun Kaleidoscope (powered by the Kooleido utility). All in all, this is an excellent example of how an app can extend a popular movie while empowering and challenging a child. Designed by Jeremiah Schaeffer and Drei Klibansky.
