Three Little Pigs, The

This UK import app's animations, original music and interactive elements bring a new type of spark to this age-old story, making it one of our favorite ebooks. Each page has hotspots (called touchpoints in the instructions) that are flagged by a small blue dot. One touch reveals a bit of dialog, read by a child's voice in a British accent. Children can can make the pigs talk, run, flip and build their houses, as well as blow into the microphone to blow down the pig's houses. They can also listen to the story narrated entirely by children. Other interactive components include the ability to swipe to speed up or slow down the wolf's van, tilt the screen to change the background, pinch or pull to zoom in or out or find a hidden spider on each page. The title is an excellent language experience that children will want to play with over and over again. Missing are a table of contents (so you can't jump to your favorite page) or any text helpers. So is it worth $8 -- easily the cost of a print edition? We think so, if you're in search of a premium children's ebook. See also The Three Little Pigs HD by So Ouat!
