LettersAlive: Animals from Land to Sea
© 2011 Logical Choice
This is a set of 26 alphabet cards, each coded to launch an augmented reality effect on a computer screen. You hold the card up to a document camera to launch the animation effect, which could definitely add some zip to the idea that letters are living, powerful symbols. In addition to the letters, you can place up to four sentence cards on the document camera to build your visual effect. For example, you might say "The frog is blue" and change the color card from blue to green. The frog will change colors. The kit comes with 26 animal alphabet cards, a set of sight (sentence building) cards, software, a teacher's guide, student worksheets and practice sheets. A Windows computer is required, along with a screen or projector and a specific type of document camera that has a USB link to your computer. LettersAlive uses technology licensed from the French company Total Immersion (www.t-immersion.com).
