Dora the Explorer: Dora’s Big Birthday Adventure (DS Version)
© 2010 2K Play
The Nintendo DS edition of Dora's Big Birthday Adventure has a fun story and theme, but pervasive background music, pushy narration and some poorly designed games that don't help children understand what to do or what they've done wrong. For example, in the concentration game (Card Match) it isn't easy to see the parts that go together. It also isn't possible to escape from an activity. The music making game is flawed, because it asks children to "tap the colored drums in this order" without regard for position or pitch. At various points, children are asked to say Spanish words or phrases into the microphone. All in all, this is one of the weaker Dora software titles that doesn't live up to the show's reputation for quality. The DS version was made by Black Lantern Studios for 2K Play, and published under the Nickelodeon brand.
