Children's ebooks on the iPad don't get much better than this interactive rendition of Peter Rabbit, where every touch makes something interesting happen in support of the story. Set to the tune of Clair de Lune, which softly plays on a piano (and can be turned off) the 54 page story is crafted carefully so that every touch of the screen is used; from the subtle page turns, to the pull down table of contents, that springs up or down like a window shade. The biggest accomplishment of this title is that it manages to do this all without getting in the way of Beatrix Potter's original story. Interactive elements include pull-tabs, spin-wheels, spring-mounted elements, as well as items that float based on the motion of the screen. The narration is first quality, and you can touch any word to hear it read aloud. There are two modes: “read to me” and “read it myself."
