Bartleby's Book of Buttons
© 2010 Octopus Kite/Big D TV, Inc.
In this iPad app, you must help Bartleby, a "where is Waldo" type of character, find buttons for his collection. Each page contains switches, buttons, and sliding controls. Sometimes, you might need to tilt the screen, making this a true "digital pop-up book" adventure. It would be fun to read with a group of children, so the children could call out the answers. There's not a lot of content, and there's no hint system to help a younger child who might be stuck. It might be nice to incorporate a "read to me" mode to put the whole story in context. There are also no language options, other than English. For getting a child problem solving, however, this app is worth every penny of it's $5 price. The art and audio are of the best quality, and they are well matched to the story. See also Bartleby's Book of Buttons, Vol. 2.
