This well designed game follows the storyline of the movie with the same title. In the story, Shrek is longing for the days when he felt like a real ogre and is tricked into signing a pact with Rumpelstiltskin. This causes him to find himself in an alternate world where ogres are hunted, Rumpelstilskin is king, and Shrek and Fiona have never met. You will take on the role of Shrek, Fiona, Donkey or Puss In Boots, each with unique skills and abilities, as you try to defeat Rumplestiltskin and his army of bad guys. Throughout the game, you can use the Magic Mirror to travel between Shrek's normal world and his alternate reality. Each world features secret areas that you can unlock as you gain new moves and abilities. The game features a cooperative multiplayer mode, allowing you to join in at any time and form a team of up to four players. The single player mode allows you to switch between any of the four characters as needed at any time. You can also collect coins to earn new skills and upgrades including a timed blast, megaphone attack and disco ball that will stun your enemies. In addition, as you explore the levels you will find permanent health upgrades and other secret items. After you gain Level Two skills you can then replay the game to discover new areas and solve additional puzzles. Developed by XPEC for the Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3 versions ($50), as well as the PC version ($20), and by Griptonite for Nintendo DS ($30).
