Classic Chatter Telephone
© 2010 Fisher-Price, Inc.
Introduced in 1962, the Fisher-Price Classic Chatter Telephone now has an app. Unfortunately, the play pattern is nothing like original wooden toy, where you could dial the phone, or (better yet) pull the phone around with a string as the eyeballs moved (see a short video of a newer version of the toy, here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_N0MQ9L1Ywc). In the App, children see a phone, that they can touch to launch animated routines. Touching the receiver causes the phone to ring and makes your phone vibrate, so consider yourself warned. Touching the center of the dial toggles between three modes, a concept preschoolers won't understand. In the “Numbers” mode, you can touch or swipe the numbers to hear the name of the number and see a quick dial. In the “Music” mode, children can choose one of three instrument voices. This would make more sense on a touch tone phone. In the “People in Your Neighborhood” mode, children can pretend to call nine community helpers, to hear a little about their jobs. There are three phrases per person.
