Fisher-Price Moments to Share (FaceBook App)

Moments to Share is a Facebook app best described as a social scrapbook crossed with a toy catalog. What's the catch? Along the side of the page is a selection of suggested toys that (surprise) are an exact match for your child's age and gender. Designed for Fisher-Price/Mattel by Manhattan-based Big Fuel Communications (www.bigfuel.com), and located at http://apps.facebook.com/momentstoshare, Fisher-Price Moments to Share is a poster-child example of how Facebook can be used to leverage something you care about (your kids) with something to buy (for your kids). You start by providing your child's name, birthday and gender, along with your family name. Next, you create an event, either by uploading a photo or video, or by choosing something from your existing photo library. You can add some narrative, and presto, your event is placed on a side-scrolling timeline, right along side thumbnails of specially selected toys. Now you're one-click away from the checkout page. Thankfully, the app gives you the ability to control who can see your timeline. Here's how that works. After you create and save a moment, you have the option to select “Share,” which stamps the moment both on your Facebook Wall and on your profile, for the world to see. Or you can select "Skip" to keep the moment off your wall. If you choose this option, you can also decide which of your existing Facebook friends can see your moment and/or family timeline. A new category of Timeline Friends, who might be family members, can contribute their content to your timeline. The day they're able to get a snip of hair? Now that will be impressive!
