This super-sized DS, called the DSi XL. Available in two colors, the 6.4 inch wide, 3.6 inch tall game system will function exactly like the current DSi XL. The main difference is the screen size. Both are backlit, 4.2-inch, transmissive TFT color LCDs with 256 x 192 pixel resolution and .333 mm dot pitch. The Lithium-Ion battery life can vary greatly; from 4 to 17 hours depending on on the screen brightness. All the other specs are the same as the DSi; two 0.3 megapixel cameras, Wi-Fi for direct downloading of games, a larger pen-sized stylus, embedded microphone for voice recognition, and the same controls (A/B/X/Y face buttons, + Control Pad, L/R shoulder buttons, Start and Select buttons, dual cameras and volume control); plus ports for Nintendo DSi game cards, Nintendo DS game cards, an SD memory card, an A/C adaptor and stereo headphones and a microphone.Onboard software includes PictoChat (for up to 16 users), a clock, stereo speakers, power-saving sleep mode, AC adapter and built in parental controls. One minor change to the system will be the addition of pre-installed software. These include a book reading application, Brain Age Express: Math, Brain Age Express: Arts & Letters and Photo Clock.
