Created by a small for-profit company (despite the .org), Kidblog.org is a set of simplified blogging tools designed specifically for a busy elementary or middle school teacher. According to founder Matt Hardy (via email), the site is free "while eventually offering our members the opportunity to support the Kidblog project by contributing '1-penny-per-pupil' per month." We set up a simple blog and found it to be both easy to use and advertising free; no kidding. It is possible to restrict access to visitors (e.g., parents) with a password; or you can let people view your blogs as a guest. This is worth keeping an eye on.
