This edition of Guitar Hero features Kurt Cobain, one of five in-game artists. The former lead singer and guitarist of Nirvana is featured as a playable character, performing two of the band's hit singles, "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and a previously unreleased live recording of "Lithium". The game also features the widest variety of music with songs from bands and artists of today, such as Kings of Leon, The White Stripes, and Vampire Weekend, as well as classic acts including The Rolling Stones, Santana, Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan. There are also 25 artists from a variety of music genres that are making their music video game debut. One of the new features of Guitar Hero is the Party Play mode, which allows players to seamlessly jump in or drop out of gameplay, without interrupting their jam session. The new RockFest is a comprehensive competitive experience that features five new head-to-head modes that are playable both online and off. The entire songlist is also now available from the beginning of the game. Players can play with any in-game instrument combination in any game mode - multiple vocalists, guitarists, bassists and drummers. The game is compatible with Guitar Hero World Tour peripherals and is sold alone or in a bundle with the guitar for $100. Developed by Neversoft Entertainment for the Xbox 360 and PS3, by Vicarious Visions for the Wii, and by Budcat for the PS2. Note: the PS2 version is available as a stand alone game for $40.
