If you're looking for a well-designed baseball game for Windows-based computers, this is well worth checking out. Just keep in mind that the idea is to reel you in, and then sell you goodies -- such as uniforms, bats, fancy pitches, and so on -- that can cost real dollars. Based on MLB players from past and present teams, the game lets you play against other players, both real and computer-simulated. The graphics are good, and there's a lot of detail and strategy involved in hitting and pitching. Clearly, this game was designed by somebody with a passion for the craft of baseball. After a painful sign-up process (it took me five tries) you can download the software, login, and pick your team roster. The game allows you to draft and create your favorite players from any MLB year, and you can play online against friends or alone for practice. The leveling system allows your players to level up and become stronger as you play against people online, and the learning curve allows the game to be played by both beginners and experts. In addition, special points are given to players as baseball missions are completed, and these points can be used to purchase new players' draft cards, uniforms, bats, pitches and more. You can also buy "Campus Credit" with real dollars ($1 = 100 CC dollars), and pre-paid cards can be purchased at retail. This currency works in a variety of existing online games.
