This portable digital media player is designed to let you download specially encrypted and compressed cartoon episodes to your computer, at a cost of $2.50 per download. You can then transfer them to your iPix device using a USB plug. Features include internal stereo speakers, a color screen, headphone jack, a table prop, an external volume control and rechargeable batteries that draw power from your computer's USB port. The device can hold up to 16 half-hour shows in the 2GBs of internal memory. An accompanying store is well-stocked with popular cartoon content from Nickelodeon and Disney. You can buy content via downloads or purchase a gift card (four shows for $10). While you can transfer content from one iPix to another, it can only be played on one machine at once. There are two body styles and color schemes -- pink and blue -- and a variety of face plates. The version for older children looks more like portable game player, with more subdued colors. June 2009.
