KizPlanet uses a Webkinz model where you buy a toy to get access to a virtual world (www.kizplanet.com). The toys consist of cars and plastic figures, and the codes are stored on key-shaped flash drives that are inserted in your computer's USB drive, to transfer the code. Once online, children can interact with other avatars and earn Kizcash to buy items or to upgrade their avatars. Other toys that come with keys include race cars, motorcycles, watches, posters, backpacks, key chains and stickers. Children are responsible for caring for his or her avatar, performing maintenance and installing upgrades. Tutorials help children learn how to change oil and rotate tires, how new fuel technologies are developed and how different engines work.
