UCreate Games

One of the more innovative things we spotted at CES this year: a camera-based creativity tool that uses color physics to let children create animated games with paper and marker doodles. With a look somewhat like yesterday's overhead projector, the unit plugs into your computer with a USB port. Once the software is installed, you make a sketch using dry erase markers (included) or regular markers on paper. As you draw, you see your work appear on your computer screen, in real time.Next, you can turn to your computer to bring in animated elements, such as a bouncing ball, that might move when it hits something green, or stop when it lands in a red bucket. By using the colors as rudimentary programming commands, children can learn how games can work. The software content includes drawing templates, photos, sound effects, and recognizable game components. The kit includes a drawing table, folding camera, USB connection, software, four dry erase drawing supplies, and game template booklet. Coming Fall 2009.
