See the Waterford Early Learning Program (WERP). Designed for children as young as two years-of-age, Waterford Central Park is an online curriculum designed to provide early reading, math, and science concepts to anyone with a browser (and a credit card). We briefly tested the beta trial, and were impressed; however the final product is not yet available. The service is adaptable, and mixes quality Flash-based interactive content with videos (samples are on YouTube). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppBUv0G3pwIOther concepts include character education (e.g., sharing, manners, and kindness) being modeled in the videos. The first levels are designed to prepare a child for school, while the later levels supplement the school curriculum. Each level contains one year of curriculum (for both home and school) consisting of songs, tutorials, books and videos -- experiences designed both on and off the computer. After children log in, they meet Squirrel and friends, who play host to Central Park. This is a product to keep an eye on.
