Zoo Vet: Endangered Animals (DS)
© 2008 Legacy Games
Highly educational but clunky to use, this vet simulation lets you take on the role of a newly employed Zoo Vet in an urban zoo. Your job is to care for an assortment of animals including gorillas, elephants, penguins, polar bears and kom,odo dragons. You will move around the zoo performing checkups treating some animals in their habitats, while others will need to be transferred to the animal hospital. The game features 30 medical cases with two levels of difficulty. As you succeed in caring for the animals, the cases become more difficult and you unlock more sophisticated medical tools that you will need to progress through the levels to earn the highest vet ranking. You will use the DS stylus to make incisions during surgery (follow the dots) and the dual screen allows you to see animal stats while performing procedures. The game also features six mini-games that you play on the office computer. In one game, you use the DS microphone to blow on an animal's fur to check and remove their fleas, and in another you use the stylus to brush and clean the animals teeth. There are also jigsaw puzzles, trivia, and memory games. The controls are clunky in some parts of the game. For example, when using tools, it isn't always clear what tool works, and where. In addition, the background music is excessive. For a child interested in a medical related field, this is a good title. Created by Frontline Studios for Legacy Interactive.
