Some game shows just don't translate well to your game console or computer screen. This is one of them. Inspired from the famous TV game show, the interactive edition of The Price is Right comes with the familiar music and commentary and the announcer Rich Fields that has filled TV screens for years. In the Wii version, you play alone against computer-generated contestants, or against up to three live players, as you compete in a variety of price-guessing challenges. Our testers found it to be both fun and tedious. You start by trying to guess the price of a new La-Z boy chair or toaster oven (in many cases, complete with brand names), occasionally having a turn at the Big Wheel for the chance to win virtual prizes in the Showcase Showdown. Other games include "Plinko," "Three Strikes," "Hole in One," and "Cliffhanger," all based on price guessing or random luck. The entire experience is thick with commercial content and opportunities for failure. For avid fans of the show, this is a consideration; otherwise, pass. Created by Ludia for Ubisoft. Prices are $40 for the Wii, $30 for the Nintendo DS, and $20 for the PC. Visit www.thepriceisrightvideogame.com, where you can try the game or play "Punch-A-Bunch" online for the chance to win prizes such as a Wii prize pack and official merchandise.
