Club Penguin Plush Toys

Beware -- a swarm of plush-toy penguins and their pets (called "Puffles") will attempt to migrate from your child's computer screen into the playroom. They're originating from Club Penguin (www.clubpenguin.com), one of the most established children's virtual worlds. This holiday, Disney is announcing a line of site-inspired toys, including small plastic playsets ($6), Beanie Baby-like plush toys ($10), and larger play sets ($30) produced by Jakks Pacific. Each item comes with codes that can be used for special items on the web site, borrowing from the Webkinz model. The codes provide access to money, clothes and igloo decorations that are off limits to other members, and certain to inspire envy, or a the very least, a child's interest in purchasing more toys.Other Club Penguin items will include home furnishings, books and apparel, plus a Nintendo DS game. Disney plans on announcing a new plush figure every eight weeks. If your seven-year-old has been talking about "Puffles" lately, now you know.
