Released in September 2008, the second generation iPod Touch comes in three sizes, and includes the iPhone's famously innovative "multi-touch" screen. A new built-in speaker feature allows you to hear songs or game-related sounds without headphones. For quality sound, you must plug in the included earbuds or your own external speakers. Features abound in this new iTouch. A light sensor adjusts the screen brightness, and an accelerometer detects when the iPod is moved from horizontal to vertical display. This same motion sensor can be implemented in games, for example, to roll a marble around the screen or to steer a race car down a track. Most iPod content can only be managed by a computer running iTunes, so a computer is required.
