Designed for special education settings, this CD-based title assesses a child's understanding of the 33 grammatical forms that are essential to sentence comprehension and production. A free version of the assessment is offered but it is really just a teaser for the main program, which costs $195. The idea is that difficulties with syntax can be a characteristic of language impairments. The Full Test assesses all 33 syntactic forms in one 25-30 minute test. The Screening Test takes 10-15 minutes and tests 17 pre-selected problematic syntactic forms. An Individual Module Test takes less than two minutes and tests any one of the 33 syntactic forms. LanguageLinks is a six-level series with 36 modules that covers 75 grammatical forms, and Prepositions! is designed to train 10 spatial prepositions. Both programs are designed to train children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and language-learning disabilities. According to Laureate, they can also be used by English language learners.
