Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution (DS)
© 2008 2K Games
Chess-like logic and a lot of reading are a prerequisite for this pocket-sized, turn-based version of Civilization, which has been nicely adapted for the Nintendo DS. In the game, you take command of an army of soldiers, workers and scientific advisors as you try to move your civilization ahead. The trouble is, there's only so many resources, which means you must negotiate with the other civilizations or know when to use your army. Designed for one to four players, using either local wireless mode or Wi-Fi, the game lets you choose from several different scenarios, or you can play in free-play mode. Content includes 16 civilizations, five challenge levels, and the ability to save games automatically. The touch-screen controls allow you to move squads, delegate tasks with a tap, and build civilizations using a combination of the stylus and the buttons. There are guided tutorials, five difficulty levels, and an automatic game saving feature. Despite the extensive reading involved, our testers liked this game, and the multimedia segues helped to spice up the action. Learn more at www.civilizationrevolution.com.
