JumpStart Advanced Preschool World
© 2008 Knowledge Adventure, Inc.
JumpStart Advanced Preschool World is an Internet/CD-ROM experience for Windows computers designed to deliver pre-reading, early math and creativity activities. Note that JumpStart World was released last year (in 2007), including three grade configurations and a confusing variety of pricing schemes. It appears that this package has been simplified to a one-time purchase. Content includes 80 activities in a package that is sold at retail in a box that contains three CD-ROMs.After the files are installed and children are registered, children can see their neighborhood and can customize their own avatar and home. Educational games are found in the library and schoolhouse. Children can learn about music in the music house, practice counting and making healthy food choices in the grocery store, and visit the Post Office and Fire Station where they can parade around town in a mail truck or fire truck. There's also a water slide and swimming hole for relaxing and a theater where they can listen to music they’ve created. A craft corner for open-ended work is also available for exploring. As with the Kindergarten level, parents can select the specific holidays to be celebrated -- say your child celebrates Hanukah for example -- or upload photos for children to see and use in various arts projects.A second edition, JumpStart Advanced Preschool World Volume 2, will expand the town to include a pet playground, beach fun, and a jungle. Volume 2 will be available in September 2008.
