Sony Dualshock 3 Wireless Controller (PS3)
© 2008 Sony Computer Entertainment America
PS3 owners who've been waiting for that rumble feature as you drive over a guardrail, your wait is over. The Sony Dualshock 3 Wireless controller looks exactly like a regular wireless PS3 controller, except that it "rumbles" in your hand, in response to about 35 specially encoded games, listed at http://www.us.playstation.com. Besides the rumble, there's little difference in the functionality of this controller, compared with the Bluetooth controller that ships with the PS3. Both are wireless, light and easy to hold, and they charge through the computer's USB port. Both also have motion detection abilities (Sony calls this SIXAXIS). One difference -- the batteries don't last as long, according to one tester. Note: In order to take advantage of the features, you have to update the firmware of your game console, a process that happens automatically when you install a game that takes advantage of this feature.
