Starry Night Elementary is a space science curriculum developed for both first time science teachers and experienced instructors. Each lesson follows science content standards and relates to other subject areas such as language arts, fine arts, math and social studies. The astronomy and earth science topics are suitable for each grade level and include concepts like day and night, the motion of the sky, our solar system and constellations. The lessons are supplemented by DVD multimedia content, interactive computer exercises and simulations, hand-on activities, and reproducible materials. The data from Starry Night classroom software can be displayed on Spitz's SciDome and Learning Technology Inc.'s STARLAB digital planetariums. Starry Night uses the 5E method of science instruction and lesson planning: Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate. According to the PR materials, this technique works with NSF standards in the US and Common Framework of Science Learning Outcomes in Canada. The package includes a teacher's manual and printed reference materials.
