Golden Compass, The (Wii)

Like many other movie games, the Wii version of The Golden Compass -- for one player -- gives you the opportunity to explore a 3D version of the movie using both the Wii Remote and Nunchuck (required). As you might expect, the graphics are much better than the Nintendo DS version, and the controls are easier to use; on par with the other console versions. Your job is to move Lyra, the star of the movie and this game, through each 3D level collecting items and killing wolves with quick controller movements. It is easy to switch between characters in order to gain certain abilities, and the Golden Compass helps with the inventory and game saving tasks. According to the publisher, this game includes content not included in the film. Our testers found the game to be fun, but similar in design to many other movie games, so if you liked the movie, this game makes an acceptable extension. Created by Shiny Entertainment for Sega. Prices are $60 for Xbox 360 and PS3, $50 for Wii, $40 for PSP and PS2, and $30 for PC.
