This crudely designed CD-ROM contains a collection of puzzles that use shapes or numerals. In Think Ahead Figural, students remove as many game board pieces as possible by jumping to a piece of the same shape or color within the same row or column. For example a blue triangle may jump to a blue circle or to a triangle of another color eliminating the original blue triangle from the game board. Scoring is based on the percentage of pieces removed. You must think ahead to choose a route that will help you remove the most pieces. This process is not very straightforward. In Think Ahead Numeric, students remove numbered game board pieces by jumping to the game piece showing the greatest number within the same row or column as the highlighted piece. As pieces are removed, their number values are added to the score. Features include game boards with rows and columns of three to six units; adjustable ability settings; custom speeds; custom start positions; and one- or two-player option. Records are kept for the number of games played, most removed pieces, least removed pieces, number of board clears, number of wins, and average scores may be printed. There is no sound to this program; all instructions must be read.
