You can almost smell the gunpowder in this fast-paced but realistically violent World War II war game; the third in the line of Call of Duty games. You take on the role of one of four Allied soldiers (American, British, Canadian or Polish) and try to fight through the Normandy Breakout campaign. This is one of the few games that takes advantage of the PlayStation 3's graphics abilities, with face-to-face combat with the German soldiers. You can fight hand-to-hand, disarm traps, and improvise explosive devices to take out hideouts. There are multiple attack routes that let you decide how to confront the enemy, or you can execute parachute drops. The game is designed for one player, but up to 16 other players can compete in the online mode. Multiple-occupancy vehicles (tanks, jeeps, motorcycles with sidecars) let you coordinate attacks with friends, driving while firing a mounted machine gun from the turret. War has never been so fun. Developed by Treyarch Invention for Activision. The game is also available for the Xbox 360 ($60), Playstation 2 ($50), Xbox ($50) and Nintendo Wii ($50).
