Fold and Go Cars Book: Scooby-Doo! Squeals On Wheels
© 2006 Publications International, Ltd.
Here's something different. This is a real book, with five perforated cardboard pages. It also contains a battery-powered chassis with sound effects that correspond to different cars in the book. Children can pop out five perforated cars from pages, fold them and attach them (one at a time) onto the chassis. Instructions for building the vehicles are written on each page. The chassis knows which car is popped into the slots, and it makes sounds specific to that vehicleThe car pieces are a bit tricky to pop out and assemble without tearing; but the process of putting a car together is a good exercise in spatial thinking. Note that once everything is assembled, there is no place in the book to store the car for safe keeping. Also, there isn't an ON/OFF switch for the chassis, so the slightest movement can activate the book; potentially annoying a nearby parent. It includes three button cell batteries.
